Recent and Upcoming EclipsesEclipses are powerful configurations that can be traced to events just prior to, or following the eclipse, as transiting planets stimulate the eclipse potential through aspects to the eclipse degree. The Solar Eclipse of January 26, 2009 at 6 degrees of Aquarius showed a focus on economic matters with new developments. Eclipses in Aquarius, an Air sign, affects human affairs and points to sociological changes. It is a prelude to long time institutions and customs that are about to cease or laws that are about to change. Conditions come to light that cannot be avoided. Emergency spending on a large scale may be required. Eclipses in Aquarius have greater effects over the interests of older people. These eclipses are said to operate more strongly in the Western part of the country and may bring conditions involving smog, storms, extremes of temperatures and potential earth disturbances, including volcanic eruptions. The last Solar Eclipse occurred July 21st, falling at 29 degrees of Cancer. Link to Lunations anytime to follow the US Forecasts based on Eclipses and New Moons. There, you can also learn more about Eclipse Phenomenon. Mars is considered a primary timer for eclipse-related events, often coinciding with dynamic happenings as it frequently presents a conflict to expose a situation in need of remedy. Mars gets things started. The Solar Eclipse of July 1st 2000 had Mars accompanying the Sun & Moon. Mars was an excellent indicator of many of the events that took place, including the LA rioting, major solar flares and more forest fires than in 50 years. See more about the 2000 4th of July eclipse. What about Eclipses in Your Chart? My book, Eclipses, Predicting World Events & Personal Transformation tells you everything you'll need to know to track and interpret eclipses falling in your horoscope, or to learn what kinds of changes they signify for the world. Each eclipse to 2012 is charted and discussed. Link to the Eclipses Book Info below to read more. Or, read an on site published review. |

Pluto in CapricornThose of you born around the 22nd to the 25th of March, June, September or December are undoubtedly feeling the vibes of Pluto now as it forms a potent aspect to your Sun. A powerful transit that not only convinces you that you are invincible, it actually often provides greater physical endurance. Be aware of obsessive drives though, and of pushing yourself beyond your physical limits. An unsurpassed transit for accomplishment; just be sure not to disregard others in your attempt to reach your goals. By the time this transit has passed, you'll be a changed person, inwardly and/or outwardly. For me, this transit was a very positive period. Those with their Sun in early Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio or Pisces get a softer aspect from Pluto, also empowering, and without the liabilities! Pluto remains in Capricorn until 2024. |

Decoding Earthquakes - Are We Due?Could it be
that the world is due for a big quake? And, if so, then where and when
might one occur? What about California, a state that is prone? In my January 09 New Moon Report, I made note of the increased possibility for earthquakes based on the position of Uranus near the IC in the eclipse chart of January 26, 2009. In fact, with that eclipse falling on Los Angeles' Pluto, earthquake activity might occur there. At the urging of Dihanne, an astrology student who recently became interested in mundane astrology, I decided to post some information as an aid to mundane astrologers and students. It is the result of a good amount of research on earthquakes and I want to thank Dihanne for her research and contribution. Following are some concrete conclusions about earthquakes. Earthquakes are caused by the action of eclipses, most often when falling in Fixed signs. Earthquakes generally follow close on the heels of eclipses, especially in those locations where the eclipse falls on the MC or IC. Raphael says that if any planets are in Fixed signs at the moment of an eclipse, then earthquakes will occur in those parts of the world where such planets are rising, setting, culminating or on the nadir. At the time of a quake many aspects
will be found between the planets at the time, but especially the
planets will form numerous aspects to the previous eclipse and to the
planets places at that time. So, while an eclipse may signify a coming
earthquake it will not come to pass until the planets form numerous
aspects to one another and to the eclipse. The stimulation of the transiting
Lunar Nodes to a previous eclipse is quite potent to produce an
earthquake. This is a new piece of the puzzle that may now make it
possible to discover when we are in “earthquake season”. Here is a
list of earthquakes that were studied and the results: 1. Japan and the Kobe quake of January
17, 1995 at 5:46 AM: The transiting North Node was within a degree to
the Solar Eclipse of November 3, 1994 at 11º Scorpio. * 2. Afghanistan and the quake of Rostag;
February 4, 1998 at 14:33 UT: The transiting North Node was at 10º
Virgo, within a degree of the Solar Eclipse of September 1, 1997 at 9º
Virgo. 3. Iran and the Bam quake of December
26, 2003 at 5:28 AM: The transiting North Node was within two degrees of
the prior Lunar Eclipse of November 8, 2003 at 16º Taurus. 4. Los Angeles and the Sylmar quake of
February 9, 1971 at 6:02 AM: The transiting nodes were aligned within a
degree to the earlier Lunar Eclipse of August 16, 1970 at 24º Aquarius.
* 5. Long Beach Quake of March 10, 1933
at 5:55 PM: The transiting South Node was within a degree of the
previous Solar Eclipse of August 1932 at 8º Virgo. * 6. Whittier quake of October 1, 1987
at 7:42 AM: The transiting South Node was in early Libra, within two
degrees of the prior Solar Eclipse of September 23, 1987, also in early
Libra. * 7. Landers quake of June 28, 1992 at
4:57 AM: This quake followed the Lunar Eclipse of December 21, 1991 at
29º Gemini when the transiting South Node came within a degree. 8. Northridge quake of January 17,
1994 at 4:31 AM: The transiting South node was at 1º Gemini, within a
degree of the earlier Solar Eclipse of May 21, 1993 at 1º Gemini. 9. SF 1906 Quake of April 18, 1906 at
5:12 AM: The transiting North Node at 18º Leo was within two degrees of
the prior Lunar Eclipse of February 9, 1906 at 20º Leo. 10. Loma Prieta quake of October 17,
1989 at 5:05 PM: The transiting North Node at 23º Aquarius was within
two degrees of the Lunar Eclipse of August 16, 1989 at 24º Aquarius. 11. The Mega quake/tsunami in Sumatra
on December 26, 2004 at 7:59 AM: The transiting North Node was at 28º
Aries, aligned closely with the Solar Eclipse of April 19, 2004 at 29º
Aries. * In each case, the earthquake occurred
during the span of time that the transiting Lunar Nodes closely aligned
with a recent eclipse; nearly evenly divided between Solar or Lunar
eclipses. Of these eleven earthquakes, we notice that five of them did follow eclipses in Fixed signs. Of the eleven quakes, five of them occurred during, near, or approaching a Full Moon (sometimes a Lunar Eclipse). Those quakes are marked with asterisks. Of the eleven quakes, most of them occurred in the morning hours, near sunrise. We have had several eclipses falling
in Fixed signs in recent months. The August 1, 2008 Solar Eclipse fell
at 9º Leo. The Lunar Eclipse of August 16, 2008 fell at 18º Leo. The
Solar Eclipse of January 26, 2009 fell at 6º Aquarius. The Lunar
Eclipse of February 9, 2009 fell at 21º Leo. For each of these eclipses
there were a number of planets falling also in fixed signs, increasing
earthquake potential. Going by the criteria, there are
increased chances for quake activity for L.A. and surrounding areas in
early 2009, where the total Solar Eclipse of January 26th fell on the IC
in the eclipse chart cast for Los Angeles. The Lunar Eclipse of February
9, 2009 was also angular in L.A. By February 09, the transiting Lunar
Nodes were at 9º of Leo/Aquarius, aligned with the degree of the Solar
Eclipse of August 2008. The transiting nodes now move toward the degree
of the recent Solar Eclipse at 6º Aquarius. So, we are within a period
that appears more prevalent for earthquakes to occur generally. This
open period for increased earthquake activity lasts until the latter
part of April 2009, when the transiting nodes begin to move out of range of the
Aquarius eclipse. Earthquakes are more common near a Full Moon and they
frequently occur in the morning. So, if you live in an area that is
earthquake prone, it may be a good idea to rehearse your plan in case of
such an emergency. Hopefully nothing will happen and the nodes will pass
these eclipse degrees peacefully. But, it doesn’t hurt to be as
prepared as possible. By July of 2009, eclipses begin
falling in Cancer and Capricorn and the South Node soon transits the
Solar Eclipse of July 21st. There is the chance for quakes,
although the chances may be reduced since the eclipses are no longer
falling in Fixed signs. Earthquakes are more common, however, when many
planets fall in the early degrees of Cardinal signs. This takes us to
mid 2010, when the Lunar Eclipse of June 26th at 4º
Capricorn features several planets in the early degrees of Cardinals,
with the transiting North Node approaching the eclipse. (View the
eclipse charts in my book, Eclipses) I hope the astrology students among
you will find this helpful in your studies and research; maybe check out
some other quakes. All the best, Celeste Teal 2/4/09 (original post) Shortly after my original post, I heard from Shel, who lives in L.A. She had read a recent post by Michael O'Riley, who had also noted an up-tick in potential earthquake activity using a different method. Michael had quite an influence on peaking my interest in mundane astrology in the first place - I recall reading his articles in the late 90's. So, I emailed him with my findings, we chatted a bit and now he's posted a whole page on earthquakes, with charts and other frills that you may enjoy. Please go to www.neptunecafe.com/teal.html *Dihanne never had an interest in mundane astrology until she started studying electional astrology where eclipses are also important. This led Dihanne to my eclipse book, and the Los Angeles chart. Dihanne now lives in FL but used to live near L.A. and has friends there. She’s joined the Orlando Astrology Group and is excited about its future. We wish Dihanne and her group all the best! After Notes: On the Full Moon of March 10th, a small 3.1 quake occurred about 40 miles from L.A. in the Chino Hills/Diamond Bar area at 6:40 AM, part of a series of small quakes in the area. There have also been reports of many small quakes in the Pacific Northwest and increased rumblings in many areas. Then, a powerful 7.9 quake struck Friday March 20th in the South Pacific, shaking an erupting underwater volcano off the coast of the main island of Tonga... Mt. Redoubt in Alaska erupts several times between March 23rd and 24th... On March 30th, a 4.3 quake hits Silicon Valley at 10:40 AM... On April 6th, a destructive 6.3 quake strikes L'Aquila, Italy at 3:32 AM, killing more than 200 and leaving thousands homeless...More small quakes around Yorba Linda, CA on April 24th and 25th...A 6.0 earthquake hit Mexico City on April 27th...A 4.4 quake and a smaller quake strike on May 1st near Malibu, CA...Later, a 4.7 quake struck near L.A. on May 17th, with several aftershocks. Galactic Times - Making the Most of Saturn & PlutoExcerpted from the Galactic Times of 11-20-09, by Phil Sedgwick * After last week's response to my piece on Snow White
I've decided to address something far more mundane and possibly
troubling - the Saturn to Pluto square just initiated. This square off
remains in play between now and next August. Of course, this is a
component of the Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus-Pluto grand square thing,
initiated with last Sunday's first exact pattern. To keep things simple,
we'll take a gander only at the prevailing Saturn-Pluto part. That's
enough for most folks. Link to Lunations for the US Forecast. |
Casting the Solar ReturnThere seems to be a mix up in how some astrologers are approaching the Solar Return and its calculation. This chart should be cast for the place of residence. This is the city one lives or resides in during the period of the Solar Return. It is not calculated for a birthday vacation spot, which is a temporary change of location, not a change of residence. I’ve had a lot of people inquire about this, including the heads of two big families who were trying to follow their astrologers’ advice by moving everyone around on his her birthday to get the best Solar Return picture. One man felt that if he moved his son, his wife and himself that it would prevent some of the worst health effects for his son who has a serious chronic condition. In fact, the stress of all these trips would more likely make it worse. The last lady that wrote me was trying to provide trips for a family of four, not only inconvenient and impractical, but costly. Her astrologer had assured her though that if one particular trip weren’t made that “horrible things” would befall them. Her son was especially fretful over having an Eighth House Part of Fortune if he remained home for his birthday. But, she also pointed out that they’d taken birthday trips before and it hadn’t seemed to alter anything one way or the other. Her common sense was telling her something different than her astrologer. To my way of thinking, this would be like saying that you can leave a stack of bills on your desk and go away for a few days near your birthday and when you come home they are magically gone. Hmmm. I guess I just don’t get it. When you return home, you come back to the way you left things. Taking a vacation on your birthday is fine for the getaway and refreshed outlook but it is not necessary. Actually, I spent several years researching the return charts, and if
you read your Solar Return Hope this helps clarify things a bit. BTW, if you are looking for software to calculate your Solar Return, I recommend Matrix software. WinStar Plus is a professional program you won’t outgrow. Winstar Express is very inexpensive, easy to learn and is great for those just getting started. What's more, Matrix has the friendliest tech staff, including an astrologer on board, with unlimited free tech support! Best Wishes, Celeste Teal Link to an article about Solar Returns Top of Page |
Osama bin Laden by Celeste TealAstroDataBank furnished several sets of possible birth data for Osama bin Laden. I found the chart below, for a birth date of July 30, 1957 quite convincing as it makes important ties to both the US chart and to President Bush's chart. Bush's Ascendant matches the US North Node at 7 degrees of Leo and this bin Laden chart shows the Sun paired with Uranus at 6 and 7 degrees Leo. The Leo Sun with Uranus certainly appears to reflect the charisma bin Laden has had over so many people and his ability to maintain a large following. One gets the sense that he enjoys being photographed and filmed, another display of the prominent Leo themes in this chart. There is also a Mars - Pluto conjunction, often associated with violence, either as the perpetrator or the recipient. In rare instances, this aspect points to a violent death. A peak time of conflict for bin Laden came during the winter months of 2001, when these planets were reunited through an opposition aspect as additional planetary alignments showed a time of severe pressure. Reports that he was wounded in December is a key to the validity of the chart above, since it showed December to be a dangerous time for him. Nevertheless, the illusive Neptune has certainly showed itself in his disappearance, the ongoing search and question of whether he's dead or alive. In mundane astrology, it does seem that the planet Neptune is most indicative of Osama bin Laden and of the covert operations of Al Queida. See the latest US Forecast at Lunations. All the best! Eclipses & Celebrity DeathsDavid Carradine, who died June 3rd, had his natal
Pluto at 28 Cancer. The Solar Eclipse of July 21st was activating his
Pluto, associated with death. This illustrates how the effects of an
eclipse can sometimes come early, before the eclipse. It is the
influence of the node that begins to heat/charge/turn on the area of the
chart or the planet it is transiting. Everything in that area is
sensitized. Carradine had Venus in opposition to his Pluto, and when
that natal affliction twice repeated; the opposition exact in the
progressions, and with transiting Venus square his eclipsed Pluto, he
was found dead under strange and curious circumstances. I’m
simplifying somewhat as there were multiple factors contributing to the
outcome of this eclipse on his Pluto. He was born
December 8, 1936 in Hollywood. Michael Jackson, born August 29, 1958 in Gary,
Indiana, had three notable eclipses impacting his 11:53 PM birth chart.
The lunar eclipse of February at 21 Leo fell on his natal IC for Gary,
Indiana. Eclipses on the IC often precede death, which is not to say
that anyone with an eclipse falling on the IC will die. (It will be a
significant time in family and domestic matters) When Jackson died,
transiting Mars was squaring his eclipsed IC and the transiting
Dragon’s Tail was conjunct his progressed Ascendant, often a time of
self-sacrifice. This was no doubt an accidental suicide; he might’ve
only wanted to get some rest, though this was an accident waiting to
happen and his doctors may also be held accountable. The July 7th
Lunar eclipse at 15 Capricorn squared Michael’s progressed IC. This
was a timely connection as this was the day of his Memorial, his death
having such a huge public impact, these eclipses being lunar. Masses of
people were affected on an emotional level by his sudden and unexpected
death. With transiting North Node conjunct his progressed Moon his
talent and his memory will live on forever. This Solar Eclipse at 29
degrees of Cancer squares his Jupiter of wealth. You can surmise much of
what that will be about. Again, I'm
simplifying here, highlighting the eclipse themes. The Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron conjunction is partly behind the recent rash of bizarre deaths. It fairly exudes themes of overdose from self-medicating, from over-indulging; going under a spell, taking a leave of reality. Addictive behaviors of any sort might tend to become an issue. It was under this configuration on his progressed Moon that President Obama recently admitted that he still smokes. Link to Lunations for the latest US Forecast and New Moon Report. All the best!
