Recent and Upcoming Eclipses

Eclipses are powerful configurations that can be traced to events just prior to, or following the eclipse, as transiting planets stimulate the eclipse potential. A recent important Solar Eclipse fell March 18, 2007 at 28 degrees of Pisces. That eclipse suggested trouble affecting property owners. Link to the Spring 2007 US Forecast and Eclipse Report for more about the kinds of events that were indicated. Then we had the Solar Eclipse on September 11th at 18 degrees of Virgo. That eclipse showed continuing difficulties for the housing market. Find more by linking to the September 2007 Solar Eclipse. Our latest Solar eclipse occurred February 6, 2008, at 17 degrees of Aquarius. Read more about that eclipse in Archives and link to Lunations anytime to follow the US Forecasts based on Eclipses and New Moons. The next Solar Eclipse occurs August 1st at 9 degrees of Leo. You can also learn more about Eclipse Phenomenon. Mars is considered a primary timer for eclipse-related events, often coinciding with dynamic happenings as it frequently presents a conflict to expose a situation in need of remedy. Mars gets things started. The Solar Eclipse of July 1st 2000 had Mars accompanying the Sun & Moon. Mars was an excellent indicator of many of the events that took place, including the LA rioting, major solar flares and more forest fires than in 50 years. See more about the 2000 4th of July eclipse. What about Eclipses in Your Chart? My new book, Eclipses, Predicting World Events & Personal Transformation tells you everything you'll need to know to track and interpret eclipses falling in your horoscope or to learn what kinds of changes they signify for the world. Each eclipse to 2012 is charted and discussed. Link to the Eclipses Book Info just below to read more. Read an on site published review.

Pluto in Sagittarius

Those of you born around the 20th to the 23rd of March, June, September or December are undoubtedly feeling the vibes of Pluto now as it forms a potent aspect to your Sun as it leaves Sagittarius to enter Capricorn.

A powerful transit that not only convinces you that you are invincible, it actually often provides greater physical endurance. Be aware of obsessive drives though, and of pushing yourself beyond your physical limits.

An unsurpassed transit for accomplishment; just be sure not to run over people or disregard their interests in reaching your own goals.

By the time this transit has passed, you'll be a changed person, inwardly and/or outwardly. For me, this transit was a very positive period.

Pluto teeters on the Sag/Cap cusp until late November 2008 when it makes final entry to Capricorn and remains till 2024.

Progress on the New Lunar Nodes Book

Webpagephoto.jpg (11875 bytes)Progress on the new book has been excellent and it is now complete. Thank you all for your encouraging emails. This has been such an exciting project, all about the lunar nodes in the natal and subsequent charts. The lunar nodes are the keys to unraveling the mystery about why we are here and what our purpose is. We can find if a person is an old soul or a young soul, whether this lifetime entails an uphill path with struggles or whether it will be an easier road to travel; exactly what contributions are expected and what lessons we came to learn. They even furnish information about the personality, demeanor, physical body, stature and appetite.

This complete lunar node book covers everything from the nodal positions in the natal chart, by sign and house, nodal aspects to the Ascendant, Midheaven, Vertex, Part of Fortune, Planetary Aspects, to Transits of Nodes to natal Planets, Transits of Planets to natal nodes, Interpreting the Nodes in the Solar Return, in Progressions, in Synastry; even some Extra Tips. With fourteen chapters, the book makes it easy to interpret the nodes in any type of chart and they can be used as a stand alone tool to find out all kinds of things that may surprise you.

I must say that the chapter on Synastry is especially fascinating and informative. If you haven't already, start collecting the birth data of everyone you know. That way you can note all those people with whom you have a North Node or a South Node connection, whether that connection involves a planet, the Ascendant or Midheaven, or even the Vertex or Part of Fortune. You'll learn many things about your various relationships and the undercurrents you sense with certain people. You'll find out why there are joyful mutual attractions with some people, romantic attractions or business oriented associations, why some relationships can't get off the ground, and why some seem doomed from the start.

This is a concise and comprehensive book on the lunar nodes, easy for beginners but also providing new information that will be appreciated by intermediates and advanced astrologers. I can just about promise that once you read it, the nodes will be the first thing you look at in any chart interpretation. The book is titled Lunar Nodes, Discover your Soul's Karmic Mission and it is scheduled to be a Fall 08 release - due out in November.

Galactic Times - All Sorts of Stuff

Excerpted from the Galactic Times of 5-06-08, by Phil Sedgwick *

In honor of Mercury in Gemini, let's talk about all sorts of stuff. How about seven important celestial notations all in one Galactic Times!?

Let's start with the fleet-footed messenger. He presently skips opposite a series of black holes in early Sagittarius and squares a collection of them in Virgo, which now are driven by Saturn to make it real, make it solid, make it tangible, "it" being the stuff of life. This Mercurial passage promises ten days of fertile ideas hitting the mental sensors, prompting that "hmm" reaction. When this occurs, the underlying x-ray pulse of 283 seconds insists upon you taking a seat to let the thought mature for at least that interval of time. Without this attention, it's unlikely that you can reopen the access keyhole at a later time. Might as well nail it down. Realizing this point has been made in GT's many times before, consider that the centaur, Ixion, the poster centaur for second chances, now retrogrades back over the Great Attractor. In just about nine days, Mercury joins Ixion's quest of "this time gather all the insight" and as Mercury likes to do, acutely apply it.

The Great Attractor emanates in all known electromagnetic frequencies, embracing an enormous vastness of space. The massiveness of whatever this object is bends light with such severity that an attentive observer can see behind its presence. The GA's message notes that those who look can see and if no discrimination is applied, unlimited, far-reaching answers appear. It intends to offer up an all-considering objectivity that renders a blazingly accurate picture of cosmic reality and down here on Earth, the real deal about what's up. Of course, to see what's up, you have to agree to see things for what they are, not as you want them to be. What if you want things/outcomes to be different from how they appear? There's an assist for that, too. Ixion's second chance nature reminds us, when the second chance comes, tarry not.

In the past days the Sun passed opposite the midpoint of the core of our galaxy and the core of the cluster of our super-galaxy. Sparing details about the technicalities, the gist is far more important. This potent point contains the spark of alchemical magic. It offers wish power that when applied with a debris-free subconscious state, creativity, passion and intention, produces favorable, possibly miraculous results. There is a little trick here. Some prefer to call it a secret, but it's really a no-brainer. You can't bet against yourself or hedge bets. You mustn't use contractions in statements or sentences that intend to serve as affirmations. Make clear, inclusive statements of the outcomes you seek, allowing for the results to exceed your minimum standards. Avoid assigning too many details, figures, financial requirements or physical conditions. Consider that you seek to achieve a new, unknown state of well-being and emotional satisfaction. Should you overlay what is known, it is possible to short-circuit the potential outcome.

Wait, you just wrote the Sun had passed that point as in past tense. Yes. The Sun, representing conscious awareness wanted to take the reality seen with the second chance driven Ixion to the GA with the increasing cogent awareness of Mercury and contrast it with the intended outcome. Next week when Venus opposes the midpoint of the galactic cores, the added passion of the desire of Venus amplifies the urge to wish upon a star or the intersection of galactic cores. With things seen for what they are, the distinction between reality and desired outcome becomes more clear. With that clarity, direction and motivation improve. Ardent aspiration appears and away you go.

How does one go? In the last days, Jupiter and Saturn traded forward/backward motion status. Saturn recently resumed prograde (forward) motion and Jupiter commenced retrogradation (backward going), reversing the previous trend of Jupiter direct/Saturn retrograde. Before, planning dominated over strategic action. The need to get the plan right could have retarded forward effort. What seemed like a good idea might have faltered during execution. Since Jupiter refers to expansion and reaching out as Saturn refers to contraction, consolidation and making things perfectly compact, it is interesting that Microsoft's bid to buy/take over/consume/devour Yahoo disintegrated as these planets reversed motion. It will be also interesting to watch the status of two huge pending/proposed airline mergers, those of Delta and Northwest and U. S. Airways and United.

But that's big business and not the efforts of a person of consciousness seeking to acquire a state of contentment and prosperity. In that realm with the planetary motion trade, action provides an awareness of adjustments to be made in the plan. The conditions ahead cannot be pre-perceived (unless applying the gifted insight of the Great Attractor) until encountered. Get out there and do and adjust along the way. Baseball offers an analogue for us here. Pitchers and batters alike form strategies of how to approach each other based upon history and the conditions of the present game. They go at each other. Pitchers observe how batters react and perceptive batters detect pitching patterns. There's a thing known as the second time through the order. The second time a batter comes to the plate if the pitcher failed to adjust, he gets creamed. If the batter makes no modifications, he often ends up on one knee humbled by the pitcher's prowess.

That's what we do when we drive cars, thus the back and forth motion of hands on the wheel. Airplanes do it, too. It's second nature. Second nature and second chances? Sounds four times as good.

It wouldn't hurt to reality check belief systems either. On the 7th Jupiter makes a square to its closest contact with the Sun. While we know squares to challenge and contest, at this point Jupiter stands halfway between his closest point and most-distant point to the Sun. It is at this point that his more rapid motion slows, for the time achieving mean (average) motion. Here he reassesses urgency, usually deciding that retreat might be a better strategy. This actually works well within the push of Saturn to advance on the mundane plan. Push and adjust as the planets prescribe, then take some time to review what you've learned. Modify the applied belief system and clear the head of the latest adjustments before pressing onward again.

And finally, the centaur, Pelion, enters Aries this week. This is the only centaur not given the name of a mythic creature. The name refers to the mountain where centaurs abounded. Perhaps this transit era reports the need to climb a nearby hill, gaze at sunsets or sunrises or the light of the day/night whenever you can get there given Saturn's squeeze and Jupiter's push. On that hill, let quiet and repose prevail. There's no telling for certain, but it is rumored you can see the Great Attractor from there. At least it'll prevent you from using "f" words. You know, frustrated, flummoxed and flabbergasted.

Casting the Solar Return

There seems to be a mix up in how some astrologers are approaching the Solar Return and its calculation. This chart should be cast for the place of residence. This is the city one lives or resides in during the period of the Solar Return. It is not calculated for a birthday vacation spot, which is a temporary change of location, not a change of residence.

I’ve had a lot of people inquire about this, with the numbers rising, including the heads of two big families who were trying to follow their astrologers’ advice by moving everyone around on his her birthday to get the best Solar Return picture. One man felt that if he moved his son, his wife and himself that it would prevent some of the worst health effects for his son who has a serious chronic condition. In fact, the stress of all these trips would more likely make it worse. The last lady that wrote me was trying to provide trips for a family of four, not only inconvenient and impractical, but costly. Her astrologer had assured her though that if one particular trip weren’t made that “horrible things” would befall them. Her son was especially fretful over having an Eighth House Part of Fortune if he remained home for his birthday. But, she also pointed out that they’d taken birthday trips before and it hadn’t seemed to alter anything one way or the other. Her common sense was telling her something different than her astrologer.

To my way of thinking, this would be like saying that you can leave a stack of bills on your desk and go away for a few days near your birthday and when you come home they are magically gone. Hmmm.

Or, do these astrologers base their recommendations on the theory that some kind of magic cosmic dust is sprinkled on one as long as he is in the right place on the birthday? Maybe a person picks up some vibration, making one super resilient to troubles? But, what about the lady who’s ex has been harassing and threatening her in the city where she lives? Will he cease to be a problem when she returns home from her birthday trip? Would these astrologers advise her that she no longer needs to be concerned? Or, even say a case of plumbing problems in the home. Do such problems simply vanish by removing oneself from the home city on the birthday?

I guess I just don’t get it. When you return home, you come back to the way you left things.

Actually, I spent several years researching the return charts, and if you read your Solar Return going by the easy steps given in Identifying Planetary Triggers, you’ll find that the Solar Return chart cast for your place of residence is reliable, giving an accurate reflection of the year. These houses and placements most clearly define your circumstances, conditions, relationships, activities, etc. You can even trace eventful dates using this Solar Return chart as explained in that text, even if you did go away on your birthday. In fact, if you move during the Solar Return year, you should cast a new Solar Return chart for the new residence. By moving, you enter a new environment with new conditions and the Solar Return shift in houses and planets reflect these new conditions and circumstances.

Hope this helps clarify things a bit. BTW, if you are looking for software to calculate your Solar Return, I recommend Matrix software. WinStar Plus is a professional program you won’t outgrow. Winstar Express is very inexpensive, easy to learn and is great for those just getting started. What's more, Matrix has the friendliest tech staff, including an astrologer on board, with unlimited free tech support!

Osama bin Laden  by Celeste Teal

AstroDataBank furnished several sets of possible birth data for Osama bin Laden. I found the chart below, for a birth date of July 30, 1957 quite convincing as it makes important ties to both the US chart and to President Bush's chart. Bush's Ascendant matches the US North Node at 7 degrees of Leo and this bin Laden chart shows the Sun paired with Uranus at 6 and 7 degrees Leo. The Leo Sun with Uranus certainly appears to reflect the charisma bin Laden has had over so many people and his ability to maintain a large following. One gets the sense that he enjoys being photographed and filmed, another display of the prominent Leo themes in this chart.

There is also a Mars - Pluto conjunction, often associated with violence, either as the perpetrator or the recipient. In rare instances, this aspect points to a violent death.

Osama.gif (13750 bytes)

A peak time of conflict for bin Laden came during the winter months of 2001, when these planets were reunited through an opposition aspect as additional planetary alignments showed a time of severe pressure. Reports that he was wounded in December is a key to the validity of the chart above, since it showed December to be a dangerous time for him.

Nevertheless, the illusive Neptune has certainly showed itself in his disappearance, the ongoing search and question of whether he's dead or alive. In mundane astrology, it does seem that the planet Neptune is most indicative of Osama bin Laden and of the covert operations of Al Queida.

Uranus in Pisces

Uranus moved into Pisces in 2003 where it will journey until 2011. Pisces, ruled by the mystical Neptune, is associated with theaters, actors, sailors, large bodies of water, chemicals, oil, gases, drugs and alcohol, mystics, prophets, recluses, and occult secrets. Pisces provides a fluid environment for Uranus, striving toward the spiritual, inspired by the imagination. Ever more people will be drawn to metaphysical practices and since Uranus is about new technologies, we may get to experience many “Virtual” encounters, maybe even virtual healing centers where doses of music, scents and images sooth our battered senses and replenish our souls.  For many, there may be a shift to a more spiritual way of life and away from the fascination with computers and Internet chat rooms that became a way of life while Uranus was in Aquarius.

Neptune, as ruler of Pisces, dissolves boundaries and with the lightening bolt flashes provided by Uranus, we’re also certain to get increasingly accurate intuitive images or hunches that turn out to be reliable. This placement of Uranus will assist an evolving sixth sense. If you feel you have a telepathic link with someone now, watch how these extraordinary communications increase and become more routine than unusual.

The last passage of Uranus in this sign in the 1920’s coincided with the noble experiment of Prohibition on Alcohol. This “experiment” (Uranus) led to bootlegging and gangsterism with the illegal sales of alcohol from speed boats on "Rum Row" that ran along the Atlantic seaboard. Some 2000 violators of Prohibition died from poisoned liquor while luxury ocean liners actually made brief excursions to sea to appease the alcohol cravings of patrons. Soon after its entry to Pisces that last time around, there were many extreme changes in society. As intoned by Richard Gere’s character in Chicago, crime was a form of entertainment back then. Also during this journey of Uranus through Pisces, the radio compass was first used in 1920 to direct air traffic and the first talking motion picture arrived in 1926. Plastic surgery became a big thing in Hollywood, the Ouija board was the popular pastime, telephotography was introduced and television was the newest science. Advertising in movies, on radio, and TV shows began.

As Uranus moves through Pisces from 2003 to 2011, it will be of double intensity due to a factor that was not present during its last sojourn through that sign. While Uranus is visiting the sign Pisces, that sign’s ruler, Neptune, is visiting Aquarius. In other words they are traveling through each other’s signs and this is called mutual reception, read like a conjunction between the two planets by most astrologers. In this case, the conjunction is read in both areas of the chart that the two planets fall. This factor basically doubles the influences and the potential. Whenever one of these planets is impacted by strong relationships with other planets, the other one is too. If Uranus is in friendly relationship with another planet, so is Neptune. If Uranus is in unfriendly aspect to another planet, so is Neptune. This feature has both its plus points and its complications. Some astrologers place each of the planets back in the sign of its rule, but in the degree it currently holds.  For instance if Uranus is at 16 degrees of Pisces and Neptune is at 21 degrees of Aquarius, they retain these positions but Uranus is also placed at 16 degrees of Aquarius and Neptune is placed at 21 degrees of Pisces, wherever this happens to fall by house. Obviously, this creates new aspects for both planets.

One thing we might anticipate is many scientific and medical discoveries in the first decade of this new century, many forced by necessity due to an increase in new strains of viruses. Pollutants, problems with water and escalating environmental concerns will force new solutions in how we handle energy. New packaging will be developed for many products to prevent contaminants. There are exciting discoveries from the oceans that may lead to new solutions and elements bringing change to the fishing industry. Issues over oil are paramount and are at the root of extreme measures and surprise twists. There are changes in the ways energy is produced and utilized. Uranus rules electricity and in Pisces, blackouts may be dealt with more frequently. Of course we’re already seeing many of these things.

Neptune and its sign Pisces is also associated with the feet and with dance, so watch for new and maybe weird dance trends or a return to twenties styles in music, dance and costumes. Unusual or hi-tech footwear will be in vogue, perhaps liquid cushioning in the soles. Nike and other footwear manufacturers could prosper, or may become known for products other than shoes.

The 2004 deadly earthquake and tsunami in the Indian Ocean is linked to this Uranus placement. Mars was square Uranus at the time, a dangerous combination. In the months and years ahead we can continue to watch activity relating to this new environment for the non-conforming rebel planet.

Feng Shui Tip - The Magic of Manifesting

from Feng Shui Expert, Candace Czarny

Hello,

The key to manifesting your goals and dreams lays in your ability to believe in the power of the universe. Many people are so used to the “Work Hard” philosophy and the “If I can’t see it, it isn’t real” mentality that they remain stuck in their problems not able to manifest no matter what cure or consultant they hire.

Have you ever heard the phrase “you don’t know what you don’t know? Often, it is true. When I decide on a goal, if I have to make it happen all by myself I would be completely frustrated and it just might take forever. You see, my view is limited by my experience and I don’t know all the possibilities.

I believe in and rely on the Universe (or for you it could be god) to bring to me the people and situations to make my dreams a reality. When I live my life like this I am always amazed and delighted to see how it all comes together.

When you are writing your affirmations and setting your goals, you don’t have to know how all the detail of how make it happen. Rely on the power of the Universe to open the doors. Just keep and eye and ear open for the opportunities. You never know where they may come from.

Blessings & Prosperity,
